The Imo State Police Command has implemented heightened security measures to ensure safety and order during the burial of Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu, set for Friday, November 1, 2024, in his hometown of Attah, Ikeduru Local Government Area.

These arrangements will cover the duration of the burial and the subsequent activities, Igbofacts learnt.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Owerri, the state capital, the police announced that entry and exit points across Imo have been fortified, while joint security personnel have been strategically positioned at key locations and event centres.

The command has also coordinated with the heads of other security agencies, including the Special Adviser on Security Affairs and the Commissioner for Imo State Homeland Security, to establish a comprehensive security plan for the ceremony.

To maintain order, the police strictly prohibited unregistered masquerade groups from approaching the event venue. Groups intending to perform are required to register with the Department of State Services (DSS).

Additionally, the statement noted that road safety officials and police traffic wardens have been deployed to manage traffic effectively around the event area.

Assuring public safety, the police encouraged all guests to attend without concern, as extensive measures have been put in place.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, stressed that individuals with criminal intentions should stay away, warning that any attempts to disrupt the event will be met with firm action.

The police, in collaboration with event organizers and stakeholders, aim to create a secure environment for all attendees paying tribute to Chief Iwuanyanwu’s legacy.
