The Anambra State Government has committed more than N65 billion to major road and infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the state’s development and connectivity.
The announcement came during the 33rd Anambra State Executive Council meeting on Tuesday, where key projects were approved and awarded to leading construction firms.
Among the significant projects, the dualisation and construction of the 18.6 km Nwagu Agulu to Nnobi to Nnewi Road was awarded to Lebtech Constructions Limited at a contract sum of N33.557 billion, with a timeline of 12 months.
Another major road project, the dualisation and construction of the 16.51 km Nnewi-Ozubulu-Okija Road, was awarded to Ferotex Construction Company for N30.918 billion and is expected to be completed within 18 months.
The council also approved the construction of the iconic tower in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area, which will be executed by IDC Construction Limited at N980 million with a four-month completion target.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo emphasized that alongside infrastructure advancements, the state is focused on addressing security issues, including kidnapping and cult-related activities.
He introduced Kenneth Emeakayi as the new Special Adviser on Community Security to lead initiatives tackling security challenges statewide.
“These infrastructure projects,” Governor Soludo remarked, “will play a crucial role in transforming Anambra’s road network and enhancing residents’ quality of life.”
